Gold Shop owner and son arrested with connections to big drug gang.

A gold shop owner and his son in Phitsanulok Province have connections to a big drug trafficking group. The police previously seized over 1.3 million Yaba pills, new information established the connection to the gold shop owner. Officials have seized over 500 Million THB worth of assets under the gold shop owner’s name.

Back on the 10th of October this year, officials arrested 4 suspects with evidence of 1.2 Million Yaba pills in Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province. 6 arrest warrants were issued to suspects with connection to the drug gang. The suspects from the first group of arrests gave information to the police that they received orders from the gold shop owner’s son. Over 100 officials searched the gold shop located in Kokmatoom Market in The City of Phitsanulok at 9 am on 21 December 2019. Officials have seized assets worth over 500 Million THB connected to the drug charges.

 

This includes,

  1. 3,663 gold jewelry pieces with a total weight of 1,428 Baht of gold worth 28 Million THB.
  2. 4 apartment buildings worth 200 Million THB.
  3. 10 commercial buildings worth 50 Million THB.
  4. 58 properties consisting of 136 Rai of land (53.7 Acre) worth 155 Million THB.
  5. 50 Buddhist Amulets, the value has not been estimated.
  6. 3 vehicles and other goods with a total value of about 500 Million THB.

Sanook News reports that other business owners in Phitsanulok have wondered how Nanthapan the gold shop owner businesses have grown so fast in a short period of time. He started working since 2002 with gold and real estate in Phitsanulok. The Police have been watching him and thanks to the arrests information have been discovered establishing his connections to the drug trafficking business. Nanthapan is the leader of the gang, he purchases drugs from Lamun 44 years old in Myanmar. Lamun is a member of the Lahu People, they make the drugs.
