Grade 7 student shot by grade 11 student.
A grade 7 student was shot at school while a sports event was taking place. Police have a main suspect after investigation found a backpack with a hole inside. The owner of this backpack is a grade 11 student in the same school. The mother of the victim revealed that her son is now safe and the doctor advises to not get the bullet removed. The incident took place in Nakhon Ratchasima Province went to inspect the school on 3 September 2022. The student was shot in his right hip while he was sitting on the ground cheering while a volleyball match. Right before the incident older students were seen chasing each other in front of the school. The victim noticed this but didn’t know that it was a fight as it was about 500 meters away from him.
The victim was sent to the Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. Srisawat 43 years old the mother stated that her son is feeling much better and is safe now. The doctor has advised after looking at the X-ray to not remove the bullet. It went in through the right hip and is now sitting in the left hip bone. The bullet is a .22 and might have come from a home made gun. The bullet has not hit any main organs and does not require surgery. Surgery will actually place a higher risk, so the best medical care is to heal the outside of his body. The boy is able to use the bathroom on his own most of the time and is expected to leave the hospital in 2 days.
The school has informed the mother that they want to take care of all hospital bills. They haven’t confirmed what the amount of money will be. Police have investigated the case and found a backpack with a hole, similar to a bullet hole belonging to a grade 11 student. Officials have not released information whether there was a gun inside the backpack. The mother believes that the older student must have accidentally shot the gun while it was still in the backpack. Officials will continue to investigate the case to find the shooter.
