Korean auntie and American uncle arrested
Police Lieutenant General Sompong Chingduang from the Immigration Police reported the arrest of a Korean Auntie named Kyoungnam known as Park on 11 July 2019. Park has been prosecuted by the South Korean authorities on charges of fraudulent acts. She has an arrest warrant issued in her name by a court in South Korea.
Miss Park attempted to flee from her past by coming to hide in Thailand. The South Korean authorities contacted the Thai Police with information of Park including a description of the Korean Auntie. The search for Park was picked up by the Chiang Rai Province Immigration Police who successfully found and arrested her hiding in the area.
Park had worked in a company in South Korea for a number of years. Along with her duration of work at the company she had cheated the company by secretly stealing money amounting to more than 440 Million Won, which is about 10 Million THB.
Another arrest of a foreigner that took place on the same day as Miss Park the Korean Auntie is the arrest of an American uncle named Eric. Eric was a 66-year-old man living in Phayao Province working as an English teacher. He was arrested in his home with a history of child abuse. He had been prosecuted in the USA with a sentence of 4-year imprisonment and a 10,000 USD fine.
Eric has admitted that he has no work permit, let alone the right to work as an English teacher teaching young Thai children. The police fear that he will repeat his history so they have prosecuted him as an alien with no work permit. Eric is not allowed to live or work in Thailand and has been Blacklisted from entering the nation for a duration of 100 Years. Eric was deported back to the USA on the 2nd of this month (August 2019).
