Governor’s aides fired over drug trade

SIX civil servants attached to the office of Kalasin Governor Kraisorn Kongchalard were abruptly fired before noon today (May 2) for engaging in drug trafficking, the Thai-language Daily News reported.

The arrests followed a massive undercover operation in the morning by 2,000 anti-narcotic officials, police and soldiers, who arrested 63 major drug traders in 18 districts across the northeastern province.

“This is the biggest anti-drug operation we have done so far this year,” said Governor Kraison. “We seized a large amount of methamphetamines and several guns and rifles.”
