Several ATMs bombed in 3 southern border provinces

INSURGENTS blasted several ATMs in the 3 southern border provinces at around 7 p.m. last night but there were no injuries or  fatalities with security officers saying the situation is now under control, Thai News Agency reported today (May 21, 2018).

Col Pramote Prahominthm, a spokesman for Internal Security Operations Command division 4, said in a telephone interview with Thai News Agency that aside from bombs going off in many places in the 3 southern border provinces, some also exploded in 4 Songkhla districts.

An inspection of all the explosion sites show that the bombs used were all small with the aim being to create a disruptive situation. The military has moved in to control the situation and are also monitoring other areas.

In Pattani bombs went off at ATMs in front of the following banks in Mueang district: Kasikorn Thai bank, Bank of Agriculture and  Agricultural Co-operatives, Krung Thai bank,  Government Savings Bank and Islamic Bank of Thailand. Another Islamic Bank of Thailand ATM in a different district was also destroyed by a blast.

Bombs south

In Yala bombs destroyed ATMs of Krung Thai Bank branches in Kabang and Raman districts.

In Narathiwat a bomb wrecked a Government Savings Bank ATM in Ra-ngsae district.

Moreover suspicious objects were found in many areas but so for no fatalities or injuries.

The  Fourth Army Region Commander ordered soldiers to carefully carry out their duties to prevent any loss to the public.
