Tour bus driver arrested after 14 years in hiding.

A tour bus driver who was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of multiple passengers has now been arrested after 14 years in hiding. Police Lieutenant General Jirapop Puridet and Police Major General Montri Teskanm gave orders to Police Colonel Padej Knamlamom and related officers to arrest Chaiyo 52 years old wanted by an arrest warrant issued by the Nakhon Ratchasima Court. The man is wanted after driving recklessly leading to an accident that ended up with someone dying. He also ran away from the incident and did not attempt to help the victims or notify officials of the accident. 

 

 

The man was arrested in Chatuchak District, Bangkok City. Chaiyo was working as a tour bus driver in the year 2007. On the date of the incident, he drove a bus that was heading from Bangkok to Maha Sarakham Province. The route passed through Mittraphap Road. As the bus arrived in front of the Bua Khao market in Nakhon Ratchasima Chaiyo faced a large truck that suddenly changed lanes. Chaiyo was driving at a high speed although it was a road heading downhill. He could not stop the bus in time and swerved to the left lane colliding into another truck. The bus then took a slide into a public van and a truck that was following behind. Altogether there was the bus and 4 more vehicles affected by the accident. 

 

 

Many were injured and multiple ended up losing their lives. Chaiyo then ran away from the accident location. The Sikiw Police started an investigation and the arrest warrant was issued. Police discovered the suspect was living with a friend in Bangkok. They inspected the home and found the suspect. The suspect is now at the Sikiw Police Station waiting for prosecution.
