Villa owner removes Buddha-head image from beach

AFTER news and photos of a Buddha-head image being placed next to the beach at a villa on Koh Samui triggered an online uproar yesterday, by evening the Israeli owner quickly moved the image to a more suitable location, Thai News Agency reported today (Feb. 10).

Mr Somkiat Thongsi, the deputy director and spokesman of the Office of National Buddhism, said when photos of the Buddha-head image being placed at an unsuitable spot on Borphut beach went viral yesterday, Mr Kannapong Taharnthai, the deputy director of Surat Thani Buddhism Office, to took action.

After determining that was in fact true, a team contacted the owner of Villa Mia and by 4 pm he had moved the image to a suitable location.
