‘White Lotus Effect’ Boosts Bookings for Minor Hotels in Thailand

Anantara resorts featured in HBO series see 104% web traffic surge, 180% jump in bookings

Minor Hotels is experiencing the ‘White Lotus Effect’ as three of its Anantara resorts in Thailand—filming locations for HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3—see a surge in online interest and bookings.

Following the show’s February 16 premiere, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui, Anantara Bophut Koh Samui, and Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas recorded a 104% year-over-year (y-y) spike in web traffic and a 41% increase in direct bookings for February. Booking conversions soared after the first two episodes aired, with retail segment room night production up 53% and over 180% in the following weeks.

Search traffic for these resorts on Anantara’s booking engine doubled compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Minor Hotels reports a 40% y-y rise in web traffic across its luxury properties in Thailand, driven by key markets like the UK, US, India, Germany, and France.

“We’re thrilled to see travelers inspired by The White Lotus and expect this to elevate Thailand’s status as a global luxury and wellness destination,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International.

Minor Hotels also owns Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, another key filming location. To celebrate the show’s success, Anantara has launched a Lotus Awakening Escape package, offering immersive experiences at the featured resorts.
