Microsoft unveils new Surface Laptop aiming at MacBook
MICROSOFT added new Surface Laptop to its Surface lineup past Tuesday. Unlike the Surface tablet and tablet with detachable power-up keyboard parts Surface Book, the Surface Laptop is a true laptop form factor with clamshell design and undetachable parts.
Weighted under 1.3 kilogram and 14.5 mm thin, the 13.5-inch touch screen laptop comes with latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and supports Microsoft’s Surface Pen. It is claiming 14.5 hours battery life, longer than MacBook Air, and speed that outperform i7 MacBook Pro.
Cool new styles are cloth-padded palm rest area and between keys. No screws and speaker grilles to be seen. Users will hear the sound from under the backlit keyboards where the speakers are hidden.
The company also aims to market the products to education industry with its preloaded Windows 10S (upgradable to Windows 10 Pro for a one-off cost) which differs from normal Windows 10 that it can only run applications installed from the Windows Store; a locked-down approach that should help maintain the security. It also has features to support quick classroom environment where users logging-in and switching, maintenances, and installations and setups needs to happen in bulk and simultaneously. Microsoft is confident that the Laptop will remain just as fast from its day 1 to day 1,000 of the school years.
The preorders for the Surface Laptop starts now with from around 35,000 baht baht and up for the Core i5 version with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage. The laptop will start shipping on June 15, 2017 in four colors: platinum, burgundy, cobalt blue and graphite gold,
