Big hunt for taxi driver who raped tourist

POLICE are quickly going through a CCTV footage in their hunt for a taxi driver who raped a young foreign woman in a field in Suphan Buri after taking her there instead of Thonglor from Airport Hotel near Don Mueang Airport, Thai News Agency said today (April 26).

Suphan Buri’s Thung Khok police were alerted by a good citizen that he ran into a foreign woman who had been raped and beaten up in a field in Song Phe Nong district. They quickly rushed there and took the victim to Somdejprasangkharach XVII Hospital.

The 23-year-old victim told the police that she flew in from Kuala Lumpur and landed at Don Mueang Airport after which she walked to the Airport Hotel to hail a taxi to take her to Thonglor as she had fixed to meet her friend there.

However when she got into the yellow-green taxi she was not able to reach her friend by Line and the taxi driver took her to Nakhon  Pathom and then Suphan Buri’s Song Phe Nong district before parking and attacking her including beating her badly.  She tried to resist but the taxi driver overpowered her and raped her in the field.

The police are right now going through the CCTV footage and scanning the images of the suspect as ordered by Suphan Buri police chief Pol.Maj. Gen. Sukhun Phanomayon.
