Female cop flying to UK to quiz Brit teen
A FEMALE police investigator together with a colleague and a translator will be flying to UK to questioned the British teenager who claimed that she was raped on Koh Tao June 26 this year, Sanook.com and INN News reported this morning (Sept 26, 2018).
Pol Maj-Gen Surachet Hakphan, deputy chief of Tourist Police, said he himself will not be going to UK to question the British teenager, while adding that it is Region 8 Police and Koh Tao police station who will be selecting the female officer to handle this task.
He reassured that Thailand has an adequate number of knowledgeable, experienced and skillful female officers in all parts of the country.
Regarding a new issue that has cropped up, with the British teenager’s mother coming out to say that the rape took place at a different spot than the one police had searched, Pol Maj-Gen Surachet said the spot searched was the one the victim said the crime took place.
He added that even though her mother now says it took place at a different spot, it should be noted that she is not the victim.
He is concerned that if this is true then it would badly affect gathering of evidence because a lot of time had passed.
Aside from questioning the victim, the Thai police team will also be bringing back her dress stained with the semen of her attacker for further investigation.
