Thousands trapped in Don Muang Airport due to storm.
Police Lieutenant General Sompong Chingduang and Police Major General Prutipong Prayoonsiri from the Immigration Police had ordered the Immigration officials in Don Muang Airport to follow the plans in case of an overload of passengers in the airport. Thousands were stuck inside the airport due to a storm that suddenly hit Don Muang Airport on the 25th of this month, causing a total of 18 flights being delayed.
8 flights could not land in Don Muang Airport from 14.00 to 15.00 with approximately 1,400 passengers, another 10 flights could not land in the airport from 15.00 to 16.00 with approximately 1,600 passengers, coming to a total of over 3,000 passengers that could not land in Don Muang on their scheduled time. This causes a build-up of passengers inside the airport after it is declared safe for landing, adding to the numbers of passengers waiting to check-in to their flight officials are doing their best to run through as many passengers as possible while still following the security checks.
The Don Muang Airport has prepared officials to assist passengers that are stuck in the arrivals area and the departure area. The airlines and the airport is working together in order to make sure that passengers arrive at their destinations as soon as possible. The airport has also contacted all connected airports in other provinces to inform the relatives that are waiting for the passengers in different locations throughout the nation.
The Don Muang Airport had advised those who plan to catch their flights at the airport on the 25th of this month to come at least 3 hours before departure time. There is a small flood in front of the airport due to the storm causing bad traffic and long check-in lines due to the overload of passengers at the airport.
