Grandma survives bee attack in a local wet market

A 77-year-old grandma has survived a ferocious attack by a swarm of bees in a local market in Wichianburi District of the northern Thai province of Phetchabun.

The woman was buying food when a gust of wind swept charcoal smoke from a barbecue stove towards a bee hive under the roof of a nearby temple, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (August 21, 2020).

The frightened bees then started attacking the shoppers, who fled in panic. The grandma could not run and was stung.

On-lookers rushed the old woman to a hospital, where a doctor removed 50 bee stings from her arms. She was later sent home.
