Chiang Mai ‘Walking Street’ quiet over fear of Covid-19
The re-opening of the ‘Walking Street’ in the northern tourist city of Chiang Mai last Sunday (Jan 24, 2021) was quiet, with no tourists in sight.
There have been no new cases of Covid-19 for the past 12 days, but the situation remains dire, according to the Thai-language daily Thai Rath.
Local fabric and souvenir shop owner Ratchanok Chartburut said she sold just three items during 5.00-9.00 p.m. on Sunday to local clients.
“I hope that the situation will soon improve and tourists will return,” she said.
