Poll reveals 92.33% of the people keep track of current Covid-19 situation.

Suan Dusit Poll from the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University carried out a survey between August 9 to August 12 2021 on the topic of “Thais and statistics/numbers of Covid-19”. 1,270 persons joined in on the online survey with results that show the people are keeping up to date with the current Covid-19 situation in Thailand.  71.84% revealed that they are keeping up with the current situation from TV. 70.49% are keeping up with the current situation through social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Line. 56.49% revealed they are keeping up with the news through websites and applications. 

 

 

40.95% stated they spend less than 30 minutes per day on keeping up with the news. 31.98% stated they spend about 1-2 hours per day to keep up with news relating to Covid-19. An impressive 13.73% revealed they spend about 2-5 hours per day keeping up with the Covid-19 situation. When asked what they paid significant attention to when reading or watching news related to the virus. 92.33% stated they paid attention to the number of new cases per day, the total number of cases and number of deaths related to Covid-19. 65.69% stated they pay attention to the current number of persons who have received the Covid-19 vaccine. 60.87% stated they pay attention to the comparison between the number of new cases and the number of cases that have made a full recovery from the virus. 

 

 

When asked how much they trusted the numbers and statistics reported each day, 45.87% stated they trusted the reports, 33.89% stated they did not place full trust in the reports, and 14.13% revealed they did not trust the numbers reported. When asked why the statistics are important, 89.29% stated the numbers reflect on how serious the current situation is, 85.25% stated it helped them understand the importance of safety measures, and 61.93% stated it helped them understand the situations better. When asked what should improve in the news being reported, 92.01% stated they wanted the numbers and statistics reported to be accurate, transparent, and with clear resources. 66.77% stated related sectors should verify the information before reporting the numbers. 43.83% stated the main media should report news that is clear and easy to understand. 

 

 

When asked how the numbers and statistics related to Covid-19 affected their stress levels, 57.05% stated they are very worried about the situation. 24.30% stated they are extremely worried about the situation. 14.42% stated they have almost no stress related to the Covid-19 situation.
