8-year-old chased out of home went missing.

An 8-year-old child was chased out of his own home and had to find ways to survive by himself. The boy later went missing but has now been found. A good citizen revealed the child often comes to ask her for shelter and food. Chalida Palamad from the Ben Nueng Foundation along with related government officials traveled to a home on 9 January 2024. A Facebook post was made sharing the child’s story online. The post stated there is an 8-year-old boy who is living with his grandma because his dad is in jail.

The grandma has made it clear that she does not want to take care of this child. She often spanks and starves the child. The child had to leave home as he could not handle the abuse any longer. A villager in Serithai saw the child and felt sorry so she allowed him to come find shelter in her own home. Every time the child returned to his own home, the grandma would starve him and chase him out of the house. The team went to the grandma’s home but no one answered the door.

The good citizen stated she knows the child lives with the grandmother while the dad is in jail and the mother passed away. She learned about the abuse and often feeds the child. Many days the good citizen will let the child sleep in her home to shield from mosquitoes outside. The child was often very stressed and stated he wanted to get rid of the grandma. This child was taken to an orphanage but ended up back with the grandma. The team tried looking for the child and found him at another home in the area. The owner of the home, another good citizen revealed the child has regularly been coming to his home for 2 months to play with his child.
