Chatumongkol leading a new party

FORMER Bank of Thailand Governor Chatumongkol Sonakul was chosen today (August 5, 2018) as leader of the newly-formed Ruam Palang Prachachartthai Party (RPP) to contest the next general election, Sanook.com reported.

A respected economist, Mr Chatumongkol gained a majority vote from the party’s executive members after another candidate, Anek Laothammatat, withdrew from the race.

Mr Thaweesak Na Takuathoong was named secretary-general of the party.

Nicknamed “Mom Tao,” Mr Chatumongkol was popular among the Thai media, even though many of them had been chided for asking him “stupid” questions.
