Chiang Mai back to normal after big storm

The northern city of Chiang Mai is back to normal yesterday (May 8, 2020) after a tropical storm wreaked havoc in several parts of the province last night, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.

Hardest hit was Sankampaeng District, where electricity poles were severely damaged, causing a power outage for nearly nine hours.

In Yangning sub-district, three houses and two cars were damaged and two electricity poles were torn down.

Sankampaeng District Officer Phubet Puttirattanaporn said no one was hurt in the incident.

The old Chiang Mai-Lamphun highway was not severely damaged and traffic is now back to normal.
