Home robbery on elderly couple planned by grandson.

Police arrested 4 out of the 7 members of a gang after they committed a home robbery. The home belongs to an elderly couple and the main goal of the suspects was to break into a safe. An investigation was started and not long after the truth came out that this was not a random robbery. One of the suspect’s couldn’t hold it in and informed police that the grandson has been planning the robbery for 2 months with intentions to kill. Fortunately, no one was home when the gang broke inside. The robbery took place on 2 September 2022 and the truth came out on 2 December 2022. Chaleaw 76 years old and Prani 73 years old are the owners of the home in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Inside the safe box was 30 baht of gold and 2 handguns, together the items are worth about 1 million THB. Police arrested Weerayut 38 years old on 2 December. The suspect took police to where the safe was dumped located 40 kilometers away from the home. Villagers surrounded the area to watch as officials pulled the safe out of the water. The safe weighs about 400 kilograms and is now in evidence at the Hua Sai Police Station. Police further arrested 3 more suspects named Puriwat 30 years old, Rattamanun 29 years old, and Chairat 56 years old. Chairat expressed to police that he only received cash of 8,000 THB from the robbery.

The same suspect stated that he was relieved when no one was home because they planned to kill if anyone got in the way. They would do this by tying and then killing the victim to stop them from talking. There are 3 more that police are looking for named Tawatchai 38 years old, Panya 41 years old, and Tawatchai 39 years old. The victims state that they are very disappointed after finding out their grandson is one of the suspects. They have always had a good relationship and recently went to a funeral together. He also visited them regularly and were not suspicious of him. Tawatchai is the grandson who planned the robbery for 2 months before asking Weerayut to help him 7 days before the home robbery.
