Light quakes across the border in Laos, Myanmar
TWO light earthquakes occurred just across the Thai border in Laos and Myanmar today (Jan. 14) but there were no reports of any injuries or damage, INN News reported.
The Thai Meteorological Department’s Seismology Bureau said an earthquake, measuring 4.8 on the Richter Scale, hit an area in Laos just 166 kilometers from the northeastern Thai province of Bueng Kan at 1.36 pm Thai time. This quake was 10 kilometers deep and as yet there were no reports of any injuries or damage.
Meanwhile a little earlier at 12.17 pm Thai time a light quake, measuring 3.3 on the Richter Scale and 10 kilometers deep, hit parts of Myanmar just 145 kilometers from Mae Sariang town in northern Thai Mae Hong Son province.
Again there were no initial reports of any injuries or damage.
Last Friday (Jan. 12) a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and this was felt in northern Chiang Mai city and high-rises in Bangkok.
