Nan-Xayaburi-Luang Prabang bus service launched

A NEW bus service between Thailand and Laos was launched today (Nov. 9) with this running from northern Thai Nan province to  Xayaburi and Luang Prabang across the border and the aim is to boost transportation, tourism and trade between the two countries, Thai News Agency reported

Mr Chitsak Yawatcharkul, managing director of The Transport Company Limited, today launched the first bus to run on Route 15 from Nan with the first stop being Xayaburi and the 373-kilometer journey ending at Luang Prabang.

The new service, which is a joint effort between Transport Company Limited and Laos’ Na Luang Transport Company, is aimed at further boosting tourism and the economies of the two countries particularly with Asean Economic Community (AEC) in mind.

The full journey takes 8 and a half hours and minibuses with not more 21 seats are used on this route. Departure time at both  stations is 8 am and the fare 660 baht.

The new service takes the total number of routes Transport Company now operates between Thailand and Laos and Cambodia to 15.
