Police: Gen Prawit’s name used to extort 2m baht

A SENIOR police officer today (Oct 19, 2018) came out to deny allegations that Deputy PrIme Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan had ordered officials to extort 2 million baht from car rental businessmen in Hua Hin, INN News reported.

Pol Maj-Gen Surachet “Big Joke” Hakphan, acting head of Immigration Bureau and Gen Prawit’s personal spokesman, said investigation confirmed that Gen Prawit had not ordered officials of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to extort money from these businessmen as claimed by Mr Atchariya Ruengrattanapong, president of Crime Victims Support Club.

He added that Gen Prawit was on an official trip to Singapore on the day this extortion was said to have taken place.

Meanwhile Pol Maj Gen Preecha Charoensahaiyanond, AMLO’s acting secretary-general, said one official in the organization had been suspended and a disciplinary committee set up after another panel checked the material publicized by  Mr Atchariya online.
