Spanish tourists rescued from broken down boat
OFFICIALS successfully rescued 14 Spanish tourists from a boat that broke down in the Andaman Sea off southern Krabi province amid rough weather, Thai News Agency reported today (Sept 16, 2018).
The boat, belonging to Tiger Marine Charter Company, developed engine trouble and broke down between Koh Phi Phi and Koh Phi Phi Leh islands leaving the foreign tourists stranded in the rough sea.
A patrol boat got close to the broken down boat and officials threw life rings across for the tourists to grasp and float across. It took over an hour to rescue them all because the officials had to be careful to not collide against the malfunctioned vessel.
All the tourists were safely brought back to the shore while the tourist boat was taken to Koh Phi Phi Don island for repairs, and was expected to be back in service later this afternoon.
