Storm wreaks havoc on fruit farm
A large fruit plantation and 22 houses were damaged (August 4, 2019) by a big storm that flattened a large number of durian and longan trees in Village Group 4 of Sawee District in the southern Thai province of Chumpon, the Thai-language Daily News reported.
Hardest hit were big durian and longan plantations owned by Mr. Samarn Toongna.
“We were preparing to harvest the fruits when the storm hit our plantations,” said Mr. Samarn. “We lost more than one million baht from it.”
For this season, the durian is sold for 80 baht per kilogram.
