Coin-swallowing sea turtle dies of blood infection
FAMOUS sea turtle named Ormsin, or piggy bank, because it had swallowed all of 915 coins died this morning despite a second operation to save her life last Saturday, Thai News Agency said today (March 21).
Head of Chulalongkorn Hospital’s Aquatic Animal Research Center Nantarica Chansue said at a press briefing that Ormsin died at 10.10 a.m. through a blood infection even though a second operation was performed on Saturday March 18.
The coin-swallowing sea turtle came to this hospital from Royal Thai Navy’s Turtles Conservation Center in Sattahip and was operated on on March 6 to remove the 915 coins within her.
