The Hua Hin emergency line was notified of a fire at the resort. The fire was reported to be extremely wild and was spreading quickly due to the materials used to build the resort and spa. A total of 15 fire trucks were gathered from the fire stations in Prachuap Khiri Khan along with multiple rescue teams that were called in to help control the fire.

Even with over 15 firetrucks and at least 50 firefighters, it took 4 hours to control the flames from spreading any further. One of the firefighters, Sahachart Limcharoenpakdee reported that the fire started in the forest located next to the resort. The wind then blew the fire to the villas, each of the villas had private pools that were covered with straw roofs.

The Dhevan Dara Resort has a total of 116 rooms, most being in private pool villas separated from each other. There are also a number of rooms located in a tall building inside the resort that was not affected by the fire. The fire destroyed at least 10 villas with other villas being partly burned.

The resort employees stated that they tried to use fire extinguishers in each of the villas but it didn’t help as there was the heavy wind that kept blowing the flames. Luckily, most of the customers have already checked out for the day, but the resort moved the remaining customers into a safe area until the fire is totally extinguished.
