Passengers told to leave for airport 3 hours early

DUE to critical traffic conditions following torrential rain from last night to early this morning (Oct. 13-14) which led to several roads in Bangkok being flooded the Immigration Police this afternoon urged all air passengers to leave for airports 3 hours early to ensure they do not miss their flights, INN News said.

Pol. Gen. Prithitpong Prayoonsiri, acting head of Immigration Division 3, also ordered officers at both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to liaise with airlines in quickly clearing passengers who arrive late by arranging a special lane for them to go through.

This special lane for late arrivers is also being arranged at Chiang Mai, Phuket and Hat Yai airports.

He underscored that both the general public and tour operators have to leave 3 hours before scheduled flight departure because there are procedures to clear at airports such as getting a boarding pass, checking luggage for suspicious objects and loading them plus checking passports.

This emergency measure was implemented after torrential all-night rain flooded several roads in both Bangkok and neighboring provinces leading to passengers departing from both Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi airports being affected especially tour groups returning home and Thais traveling abroad.
